When we launched Novo Cabelo, hair systems were still widely misunderstood. They were often taught in a single day, fitted quickly, and spoken about quietly. For many men and women, the experience felt secretive rather than supportive, and aftercare was rarely given the attention it deserved. We believed the industry could do better, and from the beginning our mission has been to raise standards, remove stigma and treat hair replacement with the professionalism it warrants.
That is why becoming officially registered with HABIA is such a significant milestone for us. It represents more than accreditation. It recognises years of work dedicated to professionalising a sector that has historically operated on the fringes of mainstream hairdressing.
Building a Different Foundation
Our journey began in 2019 with education. At the time, structured training in hair systems was limited and, in many cases, outdated. Consultation was often rushed, scalp health was not prioritised, and stylists were left without meaningful long term support. We set out to change that by developing training that placed equal weight on technical skill, consultation, emotional awareness and aftercare.
In 2021, a video of one of our transformations reached over 30 million views worldwide. That moment accelerated our growth, but more importantly it confirmed something powerful. There was a global appetite for honest conversations about hair loss and modern, natural looking solutions. Since then, we have delivered international guest appearances, masterclasses and industry events, sharing more efficient techniques and safer methods designed to protect both the client and the stylist.
HABIA registration validates this approach and reinforces our commitment to delivering hair replacement services within a recognised professional framework.
Consultation as the Cornerstone
At the heart of everything we do is the consultation process. This is not simply about assessing hair loss. It is about understanding the individual, their lifestyle, their expectations and the emotional impact their hair journey has had on them.
Hair loss can result from genetics, illness, trauma or conditions such as alopecia. Each experience carries its own weight. Some clients are deeply affected, while others are more pragmatic in their approach. Our responsibility is to identify where someone is emotionally as well as physically, and occasionally that means advising a client to wait until they feel ready.
The first system is often transformative and understandably emotional. By the second system, many clients describe it simply as their hair. Supporting that transition in a responsible, honest way is central to how we operate.
Innovation Shaped by Real Feedback
As our community grew, we recognised that one of the biggest gaps in the wider industry was aftercare. Clients were not always fully informed about scalp health, hydration or product safety, and stylists were not consistently supported with system safe ranges. Rather than accepting that as standard, we developed our own ecosystem of products and education.
Our systems are designed to suit different lifestyles, densities and levels of activity. Alongside them, we created a scalp care range focused on detoxifying, balancing pH and preparing the skin for safe reapplication. We developed a colour conditioner specifically formulated for hair systems, particularly addressing colour fade during summer months, and introduced our Day One restorative product to bring softness and hydration back to the hair. Our water soluble styling products were also designed with system safety in mind.
Every client leaves with a starter kit and clear guidance, supported by instructional videos that make maintenance straightforward and accessible. Each product was created in response to genuine client feedback, ensuring that innovation remains rooted in real world needs rather than trends.
Supporting Stylists to Deliver Excellence
We believe that client confidence begins with stylist confidence. For that reason, our commitment extends beyond fitting and into ongoing professional development. Through masterclasses, a members area, private support groups and our interactive studio for global education, we provide continued access to updated techniques and best practice.
We have been proud to receive recognition at the British Hairdressing Business Awards and to support inclusive initiatives, including work connected with the Katie Piper Foundation. However, the true measure of our success lies in the trust our clients place in us and the confidence they regain as a result of that partnership.

For many years, hair systems were treated as an underground service rather than a respected specialism. By becoming HABIA registered, we are reinforcing the message that hair replacement deserves the same standards, structure and accountability as any other professional hair service.
As we continue to expand across Europe and invest in further education and innovation, our focus remains unchanged. Every decision we make is driven by the wellbeing of our clients and the confidence of the stylists who serve them.
